About the job
We’re seeking an experienced Vice-President of Engineering with technology and growth experience, hands on with international exposure in fast-moving environments.
The Vice-President Engineering will help lead the company into its next stage of growth. His role is to ensure the successful execution of the company’s business mission through development and deployment of innovative telecom services, platforms and APIs, encompassing multiple interfaces, services and technologies.
The candidate needs to demonstrate technical leadership and hands-on experience in leading, building and managing a high performance cross-platform engineering team and delivering both Consumers & Enterprise-scale solutions.
He is an inspiring technical leader with a passion for innovative, disrupting products and a deep understanding of software development and tools.
This is both a management and technical leadership position in which the candidate will manage a team of talented software engineers and architects who work on cutting-edge technologies.
Experience of working within a telecommunication company or a globally recognized ecommerce organization will give candidates a distinct advantage.
Main Responsibilities
· To lead by example a team of Software Development Engineers and provide both thought leadership and execution excellence
· To institute engineering processes and procedures to ensure development and testing to meet design specifications and requirements
· To continuously assess existing software, infrastructure and potential partner capabilities
· To direct the software engineering function in developing, releasing, and maintaining software applications
· To build and retain productive teams through strong recruitment, mentoring, and career management
· To work closely with Product Managers and the Business Development team on distilling and challenging functional requirements into technical designs that result in highly scalable and high-end quality products
· To help maintaining production applications and to tackle high profile customer escalations
· To provide high level guidance and hands-on management of all release efforts
· To develop timelines and roadmaps for current and future product development. You will be expected to manage the program and timelines throughout the product development process, be accountable for delivery of projects within schedules and timelines
Desired skills and experience
· Previous experience in a technology-based organization is essential
· 10+ years’ experience in a software development leadership role in a high-tech environment with a prior background in hands-on software engineering.
· Development and implementation of innovative technology systems, including back-end platforms, web and mobile enabled applications is essential
· Software Architecture: design, development, deployment of scalable real-time systems, applications
· Experience of managing cross-cultural team-members is essential
· Extensive software engineering development and design experience with complex and highly scalable products using multiple technologies and languages
· Extensive design and development of software applications life cycles from concept, architecture design, development, QA to deployment
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and a high volume workload with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
· Extensive product development experience of platforms and web applications
· Significant experience leading and developing services and solutions in the digital commerce area
· Deep knowledge of digital commerce technologies with hands on experience in developing and maintaining enterprise scale solutions.
· Extensive software engineering development and design experience with complex and highly scalable products using multiple technologies and languages
Bonus points for technical skills
· csharp /.NET / SQL Server / MySQL/Postgres / MongoDB / Scala / Node JS / Javascript / Mobile development / HTML5 & CSS3
· Experience of working with cloud communications, SMS, Voice, WebRTC, Push-notifications systems and gateways
Qualifications
Master Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science from a leading institute.
